Discover the wild and untouched landscapes of Vashlovani National Park on this adventurous Vashlovani 4WD & Hiking Tour through one of Georgia’s most unique natural regions. Located in the far south-eastern part of Georgia, in the Kakheti region, Vashlovani Protected Areas feature dramatic badlands, semi-desert landscapes, deep canyons, mud volcanoes, and remote wildlife habitats rarely found elsewhere in the country.
The protected territory stretches between 100 and 900 m above sea level and covers more than 35,000 hectares. The area includes Vashlovani Nature Reserve, Vashlovani National Park, and several remarkable natural monuments, including Eagle Gorge, Takhti-Tepa Mud Volcanoes, and the Kakliskhure Alazani floodplain forest.
According to local legend, the name “Vashlovani” comes from the resemblance of the region’s wild pistachio trees to apple orchards, creating the impression of a natural fruit garden across the landscape.
This tour combines scenic off-road driving with easy-to-moderate hiking routes, allowing travelers to fully experience the remote beauty of eastern Georgia. Along the journey, visitors explore panoramic viewpoints, unusual rock formations, canyon trails, steppe landscapes, and rich biodiversity, including rare birds and wildlife native to the semi-desert ecosystem.
Vashlovani is a perfect destination for nature lovers, photographers, adventure travelers, and anyone seeking to discover a different side of Georgia far beyond the traditional mountain routes.
